Microneedling with PRP
Microneedling has gained a lot of popularity in the past few years thanks to celebrities and its use in Hollywood. Microneedling has actually been around for decades, and is more accurately termed Collagen Induction Therapy because it does just that- it induces collagen synthesis in the treated area.
Improved collagen production means smoother, firmer, younger looking skin– NATURALLY! The results you receive from microneedling comes from your own tissue formation and remodeling, leaving you with the appearance of improved texture, tone, and color. That means no fillers or toxins injected into your skin to achieve beautiful, clear skin and a brighter complexion.
Microneedling works by using a specialized microneedling pen containing 12 micro-points to create micro-punctures in the skin, allowing for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair mechanism. This micro-trauma to the skin triggers a healing response that leads to new collagen growth. When coupled with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) results are enhanced by delivering concentrated growth factors and cytokines that aid in the tissue-healing response.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling can be used on all parts of the body including face, neck, abdomen, arms, legs, and back. This procedure is used to reduce the signs of aging or any of the following conditions:
- Fine lines

- Stretch marks
- Pigment changes
- Lip enhancement
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A TREATMENT
When you arrive for your appointment your doctor will first draw a small sample of your blood. The blood get spun down in a centrifuge in-office to concentrate the platelets. While your blood is being processed, your doctor will apply topical anesthetic to the area being treated. This helps minimize any discomfort during the procedure. This first part takes about 20 minutes.
Before the procedure begins, the anesthetic is removed and the area is cleansed with a gentle face wash. PRP is applied to the face in small sections as your doctor moves through the procedure. During the procedure patients often experience a vibrating sensation, as the microneedling pen delivers fast micro-punctures and the physician keep the pen moving at all times.
Immediately after your treatment your skin will look pink and may be sensitive for the next few days. Before you leave your appointment your doctor will provide you with post-treatment care instructions. There is no downtime for returning to work, however, depending on your skin type some patients may experience more redness and choose to take a day off from work.
Most patients receive optimal results with a series of three treatments 4-6 weeks apart.
You can pair your microneedling treatment with PRP facial injections to get a complete PRP facelift. This is a natural alternative to synthetic dermal fillers to plump up cheek bone, tear troughs, naso-labial folds, marionette lines, and upper & lower lips.
